Holloway and Associates have called Gather home in one way or another for the better half of the decade. When we decided to launch our firm, it was the natural choice for our office, harboring an environment we already had planted roots.
If you’re not familiar, Gather is a chain of coworking and shared office spaces across Virginia. Founded in Richmond, Ryan Holloway was an early member while working for Cherry Bekaert. Immediately taking an interest in community development and how to improve the lives of members around us, our partnership with Gather has helped foster a long-standing relationship where we’ve not only engulfed ourselves in the lives of coworkers…but in helping the space itself grow as well.
To highlight a little bit of our history with Gather, we decided to sit down with Managing Partner, James Crenshaw, to examine the impact Holloway and Associates have made, as well as what they’ve thought about working with us. Here’s what we learned:
Talk to me a little bit about Holloway’s relationship with Gather.
Ryan found Gather when we first opened, and came to our grand opening party back in 2014.
At the time he was with Cherry Bekaert — a big accounting firm in town, and we came up with the idea of doing a community partnership where Cherry Bekaert would be a resource to Gather members accounting needs.
Holloway loved Gather, so when the time came for him to spin off and launch Holloway and Associates, he got an office with us. He’s been around since the very beginning and is familiar with all of how we work, which is why we have him handle Gather’s financials. From a tax accounting perspective, it’s helpful to have him because he knows we operate, collect revenue, and what our expenses are. He knows the space well.
Whatever tax advice, Ryan has got it. He gets me answers right away and is very accessible.

Do you feel like Ryan’s helped Gather grow?
Oh, yeah, definitely. I think just by being a part of day one and a huge brand ambassador. Any networking event he would go to, and always a valuable partner of Gather. He’s been a fixture in our Scott’s Addition location as well. The members know him well sometimes more than the Gather staff because he makes his presence known, and he’s friendly and approachable.
Any success stories you want to share?
The main success story would be that he’s available and delivers every time he says he’s going to do something. It’s really the consistency, attitude, and approach that he has. I’m sure he’s saved us in a big heroic moment, but it’s more about a trusted, reliable partner who is invested in a mindful way about our business.
